A Piston type Splitter from HRD-tech co .Ltd

A Hydraulic Rock Splitter has three main components: a power pack, hoses ,and a splitter.  In general, a case is used for acomodating above components . Also maintenance tools are required in replacement.

1. Power pack

 A hydraulic power pack is powered by an electric motor. A  gasoline or diesel engine can be a driving force. But we have stick to an electric type drive. We use 3 Hp ( 2.2kw)
AC motor. Selection of motor is decided by customers. Mains power is either 380V AC , 3 phase motor or a single phase 220/240VAC. Frequency is either 50Hz or 60Hz. This electric motor drives the hydraulic power pack.  When the push button switch is on,
the hydraulic power pack is driven and the oil is pumped in to output channel.  Until the directional lever is set right or left, the oil pressure is not rising.
When you set the direction lever to left, the oil pressure is rising until 1,200 kp/cm2.
When you set the direction lever to right, the oil pressure is rising upto 150 kp/cm2.
When the direction lever is set to left, the pistons on cylinders begin to rise slowly.
When the direction lever is set to right, the pistons on cylinders begin to shrink rapidly.
An operator needs to handle the power pack by (1) pushing on or off switch. (2) and by setting the direction lever to left ,neutral or right .

(1). The first improvement: Building a larger volume of reservoir.
  The size of the reservoir is usually  based on the flow rate. If the flow rate is
 1 liter per minute, reservoir is sized as 3 liter volume.( 3 times volume of minute output flow.)
  With the most hydraulic piston splitters the flow rate required  is usually 0.5 ~1.5 liter per minute. That means usual reservoir volume is  1.5 liter ~ 4.5 liter. This "3 times rule" has been widely accepted with the experts in manufacturing business.
 HRD-tech chose exceptional size . We chose 30 liter tank size. It means the tank keeps much oil and deep bottom where any sediment can stay there without any mixture into the active oil circulation.
  With our high pressure power pack the oil flow is 0.96 liter per minute. Comparing with our tank volume its tank size is 31 times of oil out put at high pressure. In other words, the oil may turn over once every 31 minute. Larger tank keeps oil rather clean even when there is lot of sediments are made, which is not avoidable with many construction site environment.

(2). Reaching the highest pressure in shortest time and stalls there allowing the maximum capacity of cracking.

 2. Connection Hoses

Connection hoses are located between the power pack and the splitting cylinders.
Each splitter needs 2 hoses, one high and another low pressure hose.
These hoses are distributed from a distribution block which accommodates upto 6 sets of high/low pressure hoses.

As you see on picture, red( high pressure) and black( low pressure) hoses are going together along from power pack to splitting cylinders.  The first part and the last part are always 0.5meter long, while the intermediate hoses are  3.5 meter long.

3. Splitting Cylinders ( Rams)

Splitting cylinders are  decided by a customer considering his application sites and work load. Most popular sizes are  manual type  80,85,90, and 95mm diameter cylinders. These are small and light for portability purpose by hands. HRD-tech.com offers splitters weighing less than 30 kgs unless the customer insists his special request.
There are other types also such as 150mm diameter with 2 pistons or  185mm diameter cylinder with one piston only. There are  splitters for excavator mounted use.   100mm diameter or 110mm diameter with 600mm length and longer handles are for manual type. 100mm dia cylinder with 900mm length and longer handles of 1,800mm are excavator mounted type.

Drill hole sizes need be bigger than the piston diameter by 10mm for 80,85,90,95 mm cylinders and 15mm for 150mm or 185mm  or for excavator mounted cylinders.
